Analysis of Characteristic Changes of Blended Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil on Ultrasonic Frequency for Marine Fuel

The demand for very low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) with a content of less than 0.5% has increased since the IMO2020 regulations were published. However, most VLSFOs marine are produced by blending two oils different contents, which causes some problems, such as sludge formation. This study investigates effect ultrasonic irradiation frequency (25 and 72 kHz), time (0, 12, 24 h), ratio (marine gas (MGO) bunker-A (B-A) weight ratios 25:75, 50:50, 75:25 on characteristics blended VLSFO. After 12 h 25 kHz, amount carbon residue decreases increasing MGO content; it 33% 75% MGO. at increases content, implying that change in depends frequency. h, does not decrease any scenario; however, increase cases due to asphaltene reaggregation caused excessive irritation. approximately 4% 100% B-A condition.
